The Arts in Education Portal is going on tour!
In 2018, we invite regional audiences to connect with us during a series of regional events, where practitioners can learn more about the Portal and what it offers, tell us about their work, connect with the community at regional level, share practice and find out what opportunities or events are available in their local area.
The first of these distinct events will be held in The Glucksman, Cork on Saturday 10th March, 2018. We welcome teachers, artists, arts managers and anyone with an interest in arts in education to join us for this free event.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment have recently launched a consultation on the draft Primary Language Curriculum/Curaclam Teanga na Bunscoile for third to sixth classes. You can find links to an information video, online questionnaire, consultation activities and the draft specification of the curriculum for English medium schools here. The Irish Mathematical Trust have set up an Award for Irish Teachers of Mathematics, a reward to the teachers that inspire and draw out the potential of all students.  The main award consists of a trophy together with €10,000 and everyone who is nominated receives a 'Thank You Teacher' poster for their school.  Details can be found on

From September 2017, Droichead is the sole route to Induction for NQTs in SEN settings and in large post primary schools of 700 or more students and in large primary schools of 24 (or more) classroom teachers.
NQTs who are engaging in the Droichead process must attend one 2-hour cluster meeting per term for the duration of their Droichead process.

It is a Teaching Council registration requirement for all NQTs who have completed their initial teacher education since July 2012 to participate in the NIPT Workshop or Droichead Programme. NQTs have three years from their initial date of registration with the Teaching Council to complete the NIPT workshop programme.

It was a great honour for Blackrock Education Centre to host Minister of State for Higher Education, Ms Mary Mitchell O'Connor, TD, to officially launch TEST2r on Friday, 16th June, 2017.
The creator of TEST2r, Dr Pauline Cogan, was given deserved accolades for her work and she spoke of the difference this will make to future generations of children in our schools.
