It was a great honour for Blackrock Education Centre to host Minister of State for Higher Education, Ms Mary Mitchell O'Connor, TD, to launch TEST2r on Friday, 16th June, 2017.
 
The creator of TEST2r, Dr Pauline Cogan, was given deserved accolades for her work and she spoke of the difference this will make to future generations of children in our schools.
 
Representatives from all areas of the education support services attended, as did many teachers and principals from schools who participated in the extensive longitudinal study by Dr Cogan which formed the basis for this test

We are pleased to say that we will be going live with our Summer Courses on Friday 5th May from 5.00pm - 5.30pm.  Booking will be online only by logging in to your account on this site. It is a Teaching Council registration requirement for all NQTs who have completed their initial teacher education since July 2012 to participate in the NIPT Workshop or Droichead Programme. NQTs have three years from their initial date of registration with the Teaching Council to complete the NIPT workshop programme.

Droichead
Droichead (bridge in Irish) is the enhanced model of induction for Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). This will be the recognised route of induction for all new teachers from September...

The National Induction Programme for Teachers (NIPT), a cross-sectoral support service for newly qualified teachers (NQTs) under the remit of the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Skills, from time to time, have  opportunities for the position of local facilitators and associates.
An associate is a registered teacher, who is engaged to work in a part-time capacity (20 days) with NIPT to complement and extend the capacity of the service.  Local facilitators may engage in similar work for up to 6 days a year.

The entire nation is invited to take time out and to ‘Drop Everything and Read’ for 20 minutes at 12 noon on Friday April 29th 2016.    

Organised by the JCSP Demonstration Library Project, in collaboration with Poetry Ireland,  the simple but very effective idea is to promote the importance of literacy and reading for pleasure, by having as many people as possible read at the same time on the same day.

Work will be put down, computer screens will be turned off, and everyone will be encouraged to pick up a book, magazine, newspaper, e-book, audio book, etc. and to read quietly, or indeed be read to, for 20 minutes.

Temple Carrig School, Greystones will host its inaugural Teach Meet on Wednesday, 27th April at 7.30pm.

A Teach Meet is an evening where teachers can share examples of good practice, irrespective of curriculum or school.  This event is open to educators working in the second level system.
It is hoped to be a fun evening and an opportunity to examine and share some inspiring resources available to all teachers.
