The focus of the course will be primarily on teaching the sex education elements of RSE from Senior Infants to Sixth class, in the context of Social, Personal and Health Education. The course will be experiential and practical in its approach. The seminar will include: • An overview of RSE as an aspect of SPHE • The role and function of an RSE policy • Methodologies for teaching RSE • Creating a safe classroom environment The course will take place over two afternoons; it is necessary for the same teacher to attend on both afternoons.

Literacy: Teaching and Managing a Reading Lesson NIPTWS08 This workshop provides NQTs with an opportunity to consider and discuss how to respond to the diverse needs of all learners in the classroom. Key elements of the workshop include a discussion on the concept of differentiation, the role of the teacher and the practical implementation of a number of differentiation strategies. Scenario-based discussion and teacher reflection are an integral part of this workshop.

Places are extremely limited, participants must commit to attendance at both workshops and must submit utility bills to the facilitator in advance.

The Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties: A Continuum of Support – Guidelines for Teachers (NEPS: 2010) is a key reference for this workshop which aims to give NQTs an understanding of the Classroom Support Process and the development and use of Individual Behaviour Support Plans. Relevant case studies and resources will be examined and participants' own concerns will also be explored.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the learning profile of students with SEN.

If you feel jaded by handwritten records and Friday tests, it's time to make a change and start using tools that do all that work for you. Each week we will look at various assessment methods that will be explored using modern, online tools. We will offer a hands-on exploration of Padlet, Socrative, Get Kahoot, Cube Creator, EdPuzzle, EdModo and Blendspace, to name but a few. While these tools may mean nothing to you now, they can afford you an amazing opportunity to assess your students in a new, exciting way.

The course will highlight a variety of IT skills and ideas appropriate to the topic, and hopefully teachers will leave the course with classroom ready resources and skills they can transfer to any subjects.
