Team Teaching for Literacy will explore team teaching through the lens of providing in-class support in Literacy to children with learning difficulties. Key components of the seminar content will include; inclusion, identifying pupil priority learning needs, models of team teaching and planning for this methodology.

Transition from Primary to Post-Primary School NIPTWS12 This workshop will focus on the practical skills and strategies that can be of support to students as they move from a primary classroom to a post-primary classroom. A primary and post-primary facilitator will be present and will give valuable insights into the many transitions that occur in the context of supporting and making the best connections with curricula, teaching, learning and social and emotional needs

Schools have been identified as the ideal setting to reach all children and young people to reduce premature death and disability from heart disease and stroke which is Ireland’s number one killer, accounting for 32% of all deaths. We know that 80% of premature Cardiovascular Disease is preventable therefore early intervention is the most effective way to improve health and reduce inequalities. By commencing CPR immediately the victim’s chances of survival can be doubled. Therefore the Irish Heart Foundation is initiating a CPR 4 Schools programme to train a generation of life savers who will be able to respond in such emergencies. 2 Teachers are required to attend from each school. Schools will receive a kit valued at €500

Opportunities are afforded to NQTs to engage with a variety of methodologies throughout the workshop. Useful strategies and resources for NQTs subbing in a multi-grade setting are also explored.

We will introduce you to Soundcloud, the world's leading social sound platform, which is ideal for podcasting and recording in the classroom. We will show you how to create your own talking character in Voki. Characters can be customised to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals and are a great incentive for children in recording oral work. Audacity is a free open source digital audio editor and recording computer software application, ideal for recording reading and creating podcasts. Please bring your own laptop

This course explores key ideas in Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework ( 2009) and provides lots of practical ideas for using these in your infant classroom. Take a look at other teachers’ resources for play and find out how they plan for, resource, support and assess learning through child-led play. The course links with the new Primary Language Curriculum for junior infants to second class.
