Based on the principles of a Nurture Group, (an intervention for the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of children within U.K. primary schools) this course will provide teachers with the information, case studies, skills and strategies needed to create nurture among the busy school community. Teachers will be trained in using Boxall Profile Assessments, talked through a typical day in a Nurture Group, given strategies of how to spot a child in need of nurture and create strategies to implement positive change in their school communities. "If children cannot learn the way we teach, we need to teach them the way they learn"

The focus of this 4-week programme is to promote a positive, healthy relationship with self and between all stakeholder groups. It highlights the benefit of healthy relationships and the impact of establishing good quality relationships to enhance productivity and reduce workplace stress. It will draw from positive psychology and other evidence based approaches to offer a number of tools and methods to manage emotions, communicate needs and reduce stress. This programme is very practical and focuses on the application of skills and methods to foster; self-care, collaboration and the promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing - in the workplace and beyond.

TEST 2r is a comprehensive assessment tool used to screen and pin-point the emergent literacy skills a 5 - 6 yr old child should have acquired. This Presentation will cover the following: Background to Test2r - Theoretical Bases & Development of Test2r - Test2r structure - 7 factors - Building blocks of literacy - Elements of Test2r - Learn how to administer Test2r Registration and use of Test2r website for scoring and reporting of test. NOTE: In order to obtain maximum benefit from this workshop teachers are required to bring their testing kit from school on the day. If a school does not have a kit they will need to purchase one prior to attending costing €200 at test2r@blackrockec.ie, 012365013 or online at becpublishing.com

A variety of team teaching models will also be discussed, through the lens of mathematics. There will be an opportunity to consider how to plan for team teaching in mathematics and the necessity to consider a range of data for effective planning.

This course will introduce teachers to a new online resource for specially designed for primary music education. Using a range of free interactive online resources we will look at all areas of the primary school curriculum. Participants will become familiar with the dabbledoomusic.com website and it's technical setup in the classroom, gain experience with a range of simple classroom instruments and learn how to organise group performance and composition in the classroom. This course is designed to be accessible and engaging for all primary school teachers regardless of prior musical experience.

This course introduces teachers to the concepts of computational thinking and coding to develop student’s problem solving skills. Participants will explore a combination of “offline” and “online” activities that will focus on the development of student’s problem solving abilities. Teachers will use and develop a variety of offline lessons that can be used without any need for computers. The course will also use STEM-focused manipulatives such as Lego and Bee-Bots that can be incorporated into teaching and learning from the infant classroom up to sixth class. While primarily focusing on problem solving skills for Mathematics the course will look at ways that computational thinking methodologies can be used across curricular areas. problem solving abilities.
