In 2007 NEPS delivered the Continuum of Support (COS) to complement the Learning Support Guidelines (2000). The concept of pupils being identified, supported, assessed and tracked along this continuum was introduced by NEPS psychologists to their schools if requested. Previously the role of NEPS was often limited to a few assessments per year. Templates for IEPs and IPLPs were gradually replaced by Student Support Files. A grid was designed by the Support Team which placed pupils in a certain category for support. It was then colour coded so that support teacher’s caseloads were clearly visible. COS was reviewed three times yearly and updated. The master grid held names of all the pupils with additional needs and the level of support in priority areas being received.

Izak9 is a unique and innovative maths resource. It is an active learning device designed for use by children in Primary and Post Primary Schools. The concept of Izak9 is based on the need to expose children to as many ways as possible of developing a positive relationship with mathematics from a very early age. Children, in their formative years of Primary School, love learning through play. The learning here is rich, shared, open ended, investigative and most importantly, fun. So why, when children reach upper Primary and then into Secondary level, is the learning of mathematics in relative comparison, much less stimulating for them? By using izak9, it is allowing children to learn through play in a way that can challenge, encourage, support, stretch and nourish a confidence and comp
