Post-Primary SPHE Seminars 2019

PDST Health & Wellbeing Team are delighted to offer a range of seminars to support the teaching of SPHE in Post-Primary school. All seminars come with full substitution and are open to all SPHE teachers. It is recommended that teachers complete the Introduction to SPHE prior to attending other courses. The courses are designed to support teachers that are using either the SPHE Syllabus or the Junior Cycle Short Course for SPHE. Full attendance by the same teacher at both days of two day courses is required.


Introduction to SPHE - 2 Day Seminar: 14th/15th February and 25th/26th February 2019.

It is recommended that teachers complete the Introduction to SPHE prior to attending other courses. The courses are designed to support teachers that are using either the SPHE Syllabus or the Junior Cycle Short Course for SPHE. Full attendance by the same teacher at both days of two day courses is required. This course explores the content of the SPHE Curriculum and Short Course at Junior Cycle. The focus is on experiential learning, teaching methodologies and resources used to support the teaching of SPHE in Junior Cycle. 

Junior Cycle RSE - 2 Day Seminar - 4th/5th March (venue: Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Killiney)

This seminar focuses on the methodologies, content and resources used to teach Junior Cycle RSE. Participants will be introduced to the lessons in B4UDecide and receive a copy.

Senior Cycle RSE - 2 Day Seminar - 27th/28th February

This seminar is aimed at experienced teachers of RSE/SPHE and explores the content, methodologies and resources used to teach Senior Cycle RSE. Participants receive a copy of the TRUST pack and DVD.

Mental Health 1 - 1 Day Seminar - 5th February/5th March (venue: Dublin West Education Centre)

This seminar is aimed at all teachers of SPHE to support them in the promotion of mental and emotional health. Teachers will receive a copy of the PDST Emotional Health Resource.

Mental Health 2 - 1 Day Seminar - 7th March (venue: Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Killiney)

This seminar is aimed at all teachers of SPHE to support them in the promotion of mental and emotional health. Teachers will receive a copy of the PDST Emotional Health Resource.
