PDST Health & Wellbeing Team are delighted to offer a range of seminars to support the teaching of SPHE in Post-Primary school. All seminars come with full substitution and are open to all SPHE teachers. The courses are designed to support teachers that are using either the SPHE Syllabus or the Junior Cycle Short Course for SPHE. Full attendance by the same teacher at both days of two day courses is required. All bookings through www.sphe.ie

This seminar is designed for all teachers of SPHE. It will focus on promoting positive mental and emotional health. Methodologies and lessons will be explored that support teachers in the delivery of the ‘Emotional Health’ module. It is recommended that participants have completed the Introduction to SPHE prior to doing this course

stemThis seminar provides participants with an engaging and stimulating Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) approach to Masures in Mathematics with meaningful connections to STEM. By experiencing practical activities that embody IBL, teacher participants will explore pupil misconceptions in Measures and respond by giving consideration to developing pupils’ mathematical proficiencies. Participants will also explore innovative approaches to planning and assessing IBL lessons. 

Two teachers per school can apply to attend and substitute cover is available. Each teacher must apply individually online via www.pdst.ie/onlinebooking.

The PDST Health and Wellbeing Team is delighted to extend the Getting to Know You….Creatively seminar to all Education Centres this year. The seminar was piloted successfully in a select number of Education Centres during Term 3 of the 2017-2018 school year.

By attending this seminar, participants will:

This seminar builds on Mental Health 1 and addresses issues including change, loss, bereavement and Mental Ill- Health and looks at ways of supporting young people through the teaching of SPHE. Participants receive the 'WTO through SPHE' DVD and lesson pack. It is recommended that participants have completed the Introduction to SPHE prior to doing this course
