Investigate the impact of two specific processes of erosion on the shaping of the landscape in a fluvial environment.

Hydraulic action and Abrasion

The aim of this workshop is to help teachers understand and have confidence in all the processes involved in a successful GI river study.

Course content:

Develop fieldwork skills.

Equipment use and other equipment options.

River and field work safety.

Interpretation of results and presentation methods (i.e. graphs etc).

Objectives and expected outcomes.

Worksheets and wellington boots provided.


4.30 pm Meet at Branch Out Education Centre, Larch Hill.

4.35 pm Look at equipment and equipment options - indoor session

5.00 pm Practical session at the river

6.00 pm Return to the centre for tea/coffee/biscuits

6.25 pm Indoor workshop interpreting results and question & answers

7.00 pm Finish
