First watch https://www.rte.ie/player/movie/beirin-bear-bui-i-dtir-na-siog-e1/164068392391 Then watch this demo with help from the info below https://youtu.be/FpnK7PCzLJQ (5 mins long) Simple Dream-catcher Recipe Materials List At least 2 coloured pipecleaners per child “Wishes” : Big beads / buttons / bells that can be strung onto pipecleaners Coloured wool / ribbon / string pre cut to 2.5 feet / 80 cms long approx Coloured feathers Cellotape (just in case) Note: Recycled plastic or cardboard trays are useful to organise the materials and stack, ready to hand out to each person. Method Let each child choose 2 pipecleaners and a “wish” Let the child, with help if neccesary, string the “wish” onto the pipecleaner. Loop the pipecleaner into a circle or any shape you like, but leave one longer “tail”. Twist the two pieces closed. Wrap their chosen wool around the shape, making a “net”. This can trap bad dreams so they disappear on waking. It can be tied on if neccesary but the rough edge of the pipecleaner tends to hold it nicely if pulled taut and wrapped a few times at the end and begining. Cross a feather with the long tail of the catcher and wrap the pipecleaner tight around it. Or it can be attached with cellotape. This is to tickle the good dreams into the sleeping mind. Use your second pipecleaner to loop into the top of the first and hang above or near your bed at home.
