22LC 12 002 - In Person Lego Six Bricks Level 1 & 2

LEGO SIX BRICKS – In Person Course Monday 5th December from 4pm – 8.30pm Certificate LEVELS 1 & 2

Six Bricks is a programme developed by Care for Education in partnership with the Lego Foundation.

Activities are short, simple exercises, many of which only take a couple of minutes to do. They are not a curriculum but they are designed to support all areas of development in the curriculum and executive functioning. They help to wake up a child’s brain and get them moving, thinking and remembering through playful learning. Every child uses a set of just six bricks, one of each colour (Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Light blue and dark blue). Repetition with the bricks brings about better organization of the brain and the secret of the success of these activities lies in their regular use which enables children to consolidate new knowledge.

Six Bricks activities are in development all the time and there are now hundreds of activities and resources supporting different areas of development. In addition, Miriam O Donoghue has developed many resources and activity cards to support the programme. More than 1000 of these are made available to course participants

In-Person Certified and Recognised Course

This course, covers SIX BRICKS Levels 1 and 2 and follows the programme that is required for certification. This is important for participants who may wish to continue their Six Bricks journey and who wish to undertake a course with a recognised and experienced LEAD Six Bricks trainer. Miriam O Donoghue is an experienced teacher who brought Six Bricks to Ireland for the first time in 2019. Miriam is also one of a very small number of Six Bricks Trainers globally who has been awarded LEAD Six Bricks Trainer Status. All certificates issued will carry the Care for Education Logo. Participants need to complete the full training hours to be eligible for SIX BRICKS Certification at Levels 1 and 2.

The course takes place in person and supports participants to familiarise themselves with the SIX BRICKS methodology and practice using SIX BRICKS across a range of activities designed to support a child’s development and executive functioning. Training is fun, hands-on and collaborative. eManuals and a resource folder include all of the notes, lesson plans and activities. Participants will have the use of a training kit and materials for the in-person course. Miriam will be able to advise about later purchase of resources if needed. A short snack break will be provided.

Participants

This course is suitable for Primary Teachers, SEN staff, SNAs and Early Childhood Practitioners. Six Bricks activities are very versatile and can be adapted and scaled up or down with complexity added or reduced depending on the age and stage of the children you are working with. All participants no matter what age/stage they work with must start with Level 1 and 2 training which provides the foundation for all Six Bricks work.

This course may also be of interest to participants who previously undertook online training and now feel they could benefit from in-person training.
