Global Citizenship Education is an active and creative educational process to increase awareness and understanding of the world in which we live. Learners are supported, in age-appropriate ways, to make connections between their own lives and international social justice issues, to collaborate cooperate and be empowered to make a positive difference in the world.

Ailbhe Joyce is an Education Officer with Global Village, the strategic partnership for Global
Citizenship Education in primary schools, between Irish Aid at the Department of Foreign Affairs, and a consortium of Dublin City University (DCU), Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO), Irish Primary Principals’ Network (IPPN) and Trócaire.
