Yoga for Well-being in the Primary School is an innovative course designed specifically for primary school teachers in Ireland. In today's fast-paced world, nurturing the well-being of our pupils has never been more important. This course empowers teachers with the tools and knowledge to seamlessly integrate simple yoga practices into their daily teaching routines. It also gives teachers the chance to experience first hand the benefits of a regular yoga/meditation practice by incorporating it into the daily timetable at the beginning and end of each day.
Through a blend of theory and hands-on experience, participants will learn how to craft engaging lesson plans tailored to their class level. They will also learn to incorporate yoga into the curriculum linked to a range of subjects such as SPHE, PE, and Art. With a focus on practicality, we explore how to use ICT to document progress and showcase the transformative effects of yoga in the classroom.
This course extends beyond the classroom, addressing how yoga for well-being can support teachers’ wellbeing and enhance the school's self-evaluation process. By prioritising well-being as a cornerstone of best practice, schools can create a nurturing environment where pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Yoga can contribute significantly to achieving this and this course aims to provide teachers with the confidence to bring it to their schools
