This PDST Summer course will greatly enhance your teaching and pupils’ learning experiences  in the classroom.  This hands on approach to mathematics teaching will equip participants with practical and stimulating maths ideas and resources for each class level from 1st – 6th.   The sessions feature hands-on experiences centred around  talk and discussion. Opportunities for regular reflection are planned for to consider pupils’ understanding of maths concepts with problem solving as a core purpose of maths teaching and learning.  The sessions will cover the content areas of Measures, Fractions, Place-value, Shape and Space and  Mental Maths strategies. There is a Problem Solving focus interwoven throughout the week. Your pupils will be communicating, reasoning and problem solving with a new confidence in their abilities and an understanding that there are multiple strategies and solutions to real-life maths problems. A variety of assessment opportunities, including journaling and pupil self-assessment will also be explored.  You will leave this course with a bank of ideas and a renewed enthusiasm for hands-on maths teaching with your pupils

This PDST Course is free of charge however there is a €15.00 admin fee for Blackrock Education Centre
