DLR Libraries presents Get Hooked, a new video on Deep Fake and Misinformation.

Dear Colleagues,

Please find below some resources from our DLR library services, that we think you may find useful, particularly for media literacy and local studies.

*************************************************************************************************************

1.         Media Literacy Video

The Media Literacy video, attached and described below, is particularly good for secondary schools, but also teachers in primary schools may find it useful.

DLR Libraries are delighted to present a new video on mobile technology, data privacy and disinformation. Presented by Dr. Ricardo Castellini da Silva, a media literacy educator specialising in secondary school media education, the video takes us through the recent dlr LexIcon exhibition The Glass Room: Misinformation Edition, highlighting how mobile technology is designed to keep the user hooked, and how data and information can be manipulated, leading to the rise in disinformation we see today.

This video is designed for and aimed at secondary school students of all levels, with links to videos, quizzes, and tools (including a data detox kit) for the students and teachers to engage in, and which can be incorporated into digital literacy courses or media classes. How do we read information and react to it? Who or what can we trust? Are you using your phone, or is it using you?

The video can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRbeRYtnzJo&t=8s

Please find the press release attached, which includes links to both the online exhibition and the original media literacy video series, which may also be of interest to teachers. We welcome feedback and please do contact us if you have any queries.
